Log Four: Ultra rip

After school Me and Wendy take the year 9 ultra rip girls for training, I demonstrated social responsibility by being a role model for the girls, Assisting the girls to reach a certain level and I coach them. I talk to the girls and ask them if they are familiar and confident with the rules, by that I mean I make sure they know what their doing. If they don't know what to do I talk to them and make them feel comfortable around each other, then I set the rules for them. Before training starts I set cones up for a activity just to warm them up, For example: For their fitness, I usually set up 4 cones just like what they do for the Illinois agility test, I explain the rules on how to do it like run up to the last cone, run back down then do zig zag's through the cones and back and then jump on the opposite side and run up to the last cone then back down. They got through it pretty quickly which was good, the aim of that drill was for me to see who would participate and at least try to do it. I was getting them prepared for their game, which was in a few days. A couple of the girls were thinking negatively and they weren't encouraging each other For example: During a short game of ultra two girls from the same team were getting frustrated at each other and started yelling nasty names, so I blew the whistle and stopped the game. "Run it in girls, NOW" I shouted and I said "What does a Team mean to yous? As a individual" I pointed to every single girl in their team and they all said "Team work, Participation, Being there for one another, Trust etc" but what I've noticed is that they haven't said communication, Supporting others or Encouraging each other which is the main thing about what a team is. "If there's no communication, or support or even encouragement then is that a team?" the girls said "No" I explained to them that a Team isn't based on winning or relying on 1 person a team is really about communication and encouraging your peers. "If yous know what a team is? why ain't you showing me that you know what it means?, now girls whats a team?" I shouted "Communication and encouraging others" the whole team shouted "Now show me what that looks like". They went back on to the field and started playing, Keisha knocked the ball on and Jamie yelled at her again but Keisha's team mates and Jamie's team told Jamie stop thinking negatively and It was just a game. This has a positive impact on my coaching because the girls learnt something and ended up showing me how to do it. This is an example of me showing level 5 social responsibility.
